Voters in the Brooklyn Center and Spring Lake Park school districts will go to the polls Tuesday, Feb. 28, to vote on school levy requests that proponents say are needed to maintain essential services.
Voters twice defeated the Brooklyn Center request in recent months, the last time by only 23 votes.
"The district is in need of these funds," said Paul Mueller, a member of Education Minnesota Local 7032.
Without the funds provided by the levy, students will face sustained cuts to buses, library services, and after school sports.
In Spring Lake Park School District 16 ? serving Blaine, Spring Lake Park and Fridley ? the levy will address a projected 20 percent growth in enrollment by adding classrooms, renovating facilities, and initiating new construction.
