Infrastructure projects past and present surround the bridge with the tragic I-35W bridge in the background and the Mississippi River Locks and Dams nearby.

At the rally, Laborers Union General President Terry O\’Sullivan will describe a vision of rebuilding the deteriorating infrastructure of Minnesota and America.  A massive rebuilding effort would create new high quality jobs for American workers and spur economic development across the country.

US Representatives Keith Ellison and Tim Walz will talk about the efforts being made in Washington DC to pass a Transportation Bill and how union members and other citizens can help those efforts. Mayor Chris Coleman of Saint Paul and Mayor RT Rybak of Minneapolis will talk about the ongoing efforts to transform the multi-modal transportation systems of the Twin Cities in terms of light rail, highways and transit. Taryl Clark, who is spearheading the BlueGreen Alliance\’s JOBS21! Campaign will highlight how infrastructure investment is the key to building America\’s new "green economy". Finally, Scott Gray from the Minneapolis Urban League will talk about their new Big Step! program that, in partnership with the Laborers District Council of MN & ND, will train workers from disadvantaged communities to work in the construction industry.

The "Build Minnesota So Minnesota Works!" Rally will take place on the Historic Stone Arch Bridge in Downtown Minneapolis at 1:30 pm on Friday, June 17th. Laborers Union members should call their local unions about a special pre-rally cookout for members only.
