Union members to discuss their experiences as elected officials

Union members who are also elected officials will discuss their goals and experiences at the monthly St. Paul Labor Speakers Club program Jan. 24 in St. Paul.

The program starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at the St. Paul Labor Center, 411 Mahoney St. (aka Main St.) The topic is “Union Members in Elected Office: What Does Labor Want? What Does Labor Need?”

Panelists will include state Senator Tom Bakk, a member of the Carpenters union; and state Representatives Sheldon Johnson (Teamster), John Lesch (AFSCME) and Sandra Peterson (Education Minnesota).

All union members in elected office are invited to attend and share their experiences, organizers said. The event is free and open to the public.
