Understaffing, low pay, and increasing reliance on outside staffing pools have created a crisis in long-term care in Minnesota, argues a coalition of caregivers and organizations who represent workers at those care facilities and senior citizens who live there.

Food drive tries to help ‘working poor’

Nearly half the people who used Minnesota’s food shelves last year work for a living. Because of this, Minnesota FoodShare is highlighting the needs of the working poor in its March education and food drive campaign, titled ‘Working and Still Hungry.’

Mayo Clinic workers seek support for fair contract

Workers at the Albert Lea Medical Center, part of the Mayo Health System, are engaged in a public campaign to build support for a fair contract. A major rally is planned Friday, March 23, at 4:30 p.m. at the gazebo at Broadway and Fountain in Albert Lea.
