No deals to take away local control, groups tell governor

With an agreement on the state budget in doubt – and only days remaining in the 2017 legislative session – groups are urging Governor Mark Dayton to stop any attempts to incorporate or otherwise pass a measure undermining local government control and revoking Minneapolis and St. Paul earned sick and safe time ordinances.

Governor Mark Dayton vetoed a transportation bill Monday that would have slashed funding for Metro Transit bus and rail services by $17.5 million over the next two years.

Strike looming Friday at AT&T Mobility

Rally May 16 to support transit funding

Supporters of funding for mass transit will rally Tuesday, May 16,  at 6 p.m. at the state Capitol, next to the Capitol stop on the light rail green line. They say budget proposals would mean huge cuts to service and higher fares.
