Thanks to workers at Hennepin County Medical Center, other public employees will have their voices heard when certain labor-management issues go to court.
Hennepin County Medical Center workers celebrated Tuesday after reaching a settlement with HCMC management that was presented in Hennepin County District Court.
Community members rallied outside a Minneapolis restaurant Monday to protest proposals to pay tipped workers less than the minimum wage. That practice, they said, can lead to workers being robbed of wages they have earned.
Workers at Hennepin County Medical Center are scheduled to go to court Tuesday in an effort to halt the layoff of some 200 workers at one of the state’s top medical facilities.Their union, AFSCME Council 5, is seeking a temporary restraining order against the layoffs.
