NFL players renounce union status to block lockout

After almost three weeks of negotiations with NFL team owners and the assistance of a federal mediator failed to result in a fair, new collective bargaining agreement, the NFL Players Association Friday renounced its status as a union in order to block a lockout by the owners.

Technicians call for fair contract with public TV

Union broadcast technicians, locked in negotiations with Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) since February, rallied with supporters downtown St. Paul on Friday, calling on management to settle a fair contract that protects full-time jobs at the station.
