State employees singled out for leadership in addressing foodborne illnesses

The same week legislators held a hearing on the Republican bill to cut the state workforce by 15 percent across the board, the Center for Science in the Public Interest singled out Minnesota as one of two states nationally that is “…widely recognized for having strong investigating and reporting systems…” when it comes to handling foodborne illnesses.

It’s no surprise that president wannabe Tim Pawlenty urged governments to take on their unionized employees in Monday’s Wall Street Journal.  He wants government to lead a race to the bottom that’s bad for our economy and bad for the entire working class. 

Nurses blast debt panel report

The revised, final report by the president’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility is an “unwarranted, outrageous attack on the health, safety, and retirement security of millions of nurses and tens of millions of other working people and should be immediately rejected by the Obama administration and Congress,” said the nation’s largest union and professional association of registered nurses.
