The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry is Hiring

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) is hiring two bilingual ( Spanish, Hmong or Somali) senior labor investigators and another five senior labor investigators to work in St. Paul.

DLI plays a critical role in achieving compliance with labor and employment laws that are applicable to Minnesota’s workforce. These new senior labor investigators will investigate violations and administer and enforce the provisions of the state’s labor standards laws, including the Minnesota Fair Labor Standards Act, the Minnesota Payment of Wages Act, the Minnesota Child Labor Standards Act and related wage and hour laws.

These employees also will assist in the development and implementation of the DLI’s strategic compliance plans, which aim to use the agency’s limited resources in a way that furthers the agency’s mission to promote compliance with labor standards.

With limited guidance, these employees will initiate and conduct comprehensive investigations of employers in response to requests for assistance or as part of strategic compliance plans. They will also conduct mediations of disputes, respond to formal and informal complaints of possible violations of labor standards laws; perform worksite investigations; perform reviews of employment records and workplace policies; conduct complex civil investigations into violations of the Minnesota Fair Labor Standards Act, the Minnesota Child Labor Standards Act and related laws.
