Fired Circuit City employees turn to union

A second round of mass firings by the big electronics retailer Circuit City — many of them at its Richmond, Va., headquarters — prompted some workers there to contact the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union in New York.

Unions build veterans memorial honoring one of their own

Groundbreaking ceremonies on Memorial Day for Richfield’s All Veterans Memorial paid special homage to union retiree and U.S. Marine veteran Charles Lindberg, the last survivor of the first Iwo Jima flagraising in 1945. Lindberg is a retired member of Local 292 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
