Union volunteers renovate home for returning veterans

Labor leaders joined union contractors, Ramsey County officials and representatives of veterans-service organizations for a Veterans Day ceremony outside Birmingham Place, a formerly vacant property purchased and rehabilitated to house returning soldiers as they transition into civilian life.

Retail cleaning workers in the Twin Cities have seen their wages and working conditions deteriorate severely over the last decade. On Saturday several cleaning workers will march with community allies in Minneapolis, calling on prominent retailers to commit to reversing that trend.

Minnesota labor media win national awards

The Labor Education Service, which publishes Workday Minnesota, won three awards in this year’s competition sponsored by the International Labor Communications Association. In all, Minnesota’s labor media won eight awards.
