Northwest Airlines and AMFA, the union representing striking Northwest Airlines workers, will resume negotiations Thursday in Minneapolis, both parties announced.
The talks will start at noon with the assistance of the National Mediation Board, according to a notice posted Wednesday on the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association website. The bargaining would be the first since the walkout by 4,400 AMFA members Aug. 19.
The strike was prompted by Northwest's final offer, demanding the elimination of half the AMFA-represented positions and wage cuts of 25 percent.
Union members have been picketing Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and other facilities around the clock and claim the airline has been forced to cancel and delay flights. Northwest management maintains its operations have been normal.
