‘Back to school’ protest Thursday at Wal-Mart

The protest will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, at 4 p.m. outside the Wal-Mart store at 1450 University Ave. W. in St. Paul\’s Midway neighborhood.

"Wal-Mart cost taxpayers $1.37 billion in public health care in 2005. This is money that could have gone to our public schools!" the union said in announcing the event.

"We\’ll be calling on all families not to buy their back-to-school supplies from Wal-Mart or Sam\’s Club until they agree to stop abusing their workers and the taxpayers of Minnesota."

Also sponsoring the demonstration is the organization "Wake Up Wal-Mart."
