Buffalo Hospital nurses join MNA

With 76 percent turnout, nurses at Buffalo Hospital in Buffalo, Minn., voted by a 9-1 margin to join the Minnesota Nurses Association. "This was the right time," said Gale Syverson, who has worked 22 years at the hospital.

Plant-gate action at Dakota Premium

Workers at the notoriously anti-union Dakota Premium meatpacking plant in South St. Paul will take a decertification vote Friday, Jan. 25. Their union, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 789, will hold a plant-gate action to distribute fliers the evening before the vote takes place.

Hannon workers ‘on thin ice,’ demonstrators say

The windchill was minus six degrees at noon Monday as about 20 members and staff of SEIU Local 26, some wearing ice skates, some wearing boots, played hockey on the ice at Centennial Lakes Park. Their presence sought to dramatize that workers at Hannon Security Services are "on thin ice" without access to affordable health care.
