The free event will run from 1-3 p.m. at Boom Island Park, Picnic Site C, in Minneapolis. Boom Island Park, 724 Sibley St. N.E., is located right on the Mississippi River, just south of the Plymouth Ave. bridge.

Ellison and friends will gather for food, kids activities, and socializing. The Ellison for Congress Committee will provide food for grilling and drinks. Picnic-goers also are invited to bring a dish to share or something to put on grill. The event will be alcohol-free.

Ellison, a DFLer, represents Minnesota\'s 5th Congressional district, which includes Minneapolis.
