In honor of the first anniversary of the 2003 strike at the University of Minnesota, local unions are sponsoring a showing of "Voices on the Line," a documentary about the strike.
The free showing will be Thursday, Nov. 4, at noon in Room 655 of the Gateway Building, at the intersection of Oak and Washington on the Minneapolis campus.
The video, produced by the University of Minnesota Labor Education Service, includes footage from the AFSCME picket lines, strike headquarters, mass striker meetings, the student sit-in, fundraisers, and lots of interviews with strikers and supporters.
Union members said it's important to review the lessons of the strike as they prepare for the next round of negotiations.
