Minnesota's DREAM Act, proposed legislation that would make a college education more accessible for the children of immigrants, will be the topic of the weekly coffee hour series Saturday at the Resource Center of the Americas.
Rep. Carlos Mariani, DFL-St. Paul, will speak on proposed legislation that would offer in-state university tuition to students who have lived in Minnesota for at least two years and graduated from a Minnesota high school. The legislation is part of reform efforts put forward during the national and Minnesota Immigrant Workers Freedom Rides.
The coffee hour runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Resource Center, 3019 Minnehaha Ave. S., (corner of Lake and Minnehaha), Minneapolis. Admission is $4, which includes a cup of coffee. Mariani's presentation will be followed by discussion.
