Hennepin County workers begin contract talks

Plans called for presenting the AFSCME contract proposal Sept. 19, with the County presenting the employer’s proposal Sept. 26. Negotiation sessions are scheduled for Oct. 10 and 24, with mediation sessions set for Nov. 7 and 14.

After each meeting, updates will be available at www.afscmemn.org under “Bargaining Updates/Hennepin County.”

As part of the contract effort, the AFSCME Hennepin County locals are recruiting members for both an Action Committee and a Strike Preparation Committee.

The current two-year agreement, which expires Dec. 31, featured a two-year wage freeze.

AFSCME’s six Hennepin County locals include about 4,000 workers.
