The strike, which was scheduled to begin on May 4 and last for three days, was cancelled late Thursday evening after a federal mediator created a proposal both the employer and nurses feel is worthy of being voted on by MNA membership.
Both parties agreed that no details of the proposal would be discussed or released publicly until everything was verified in writing.
Once the mediator’s new proposal is formalized and put into writing, it will be presented to the 150 RRHS nurses for a vote.
Both sides have been negotiating since September 2010 in attempts to reach a new contract agreement. The nurses’ current contract with the hospital expired on October 31, 2010.
