IBEW Local 110 contributes to student solar panel project

The union donated $9,300 worth of labor to install 44 solar panels on the school. The panels will save at least $100,000 in energy costs over their 40-year lifespan and prevent one million pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere, according to a report published Saturday in the Minneapolis StarTribune.

Middle-school students planned and raised funds for the panels through an initiative they called “Project Independence.”
