Invest in Minnesota challenges ‘cuts only’ approach

The coalition of faith, labor and nonprofit organizations will release 20 testimonials to show how proposed cuts will impact regular Minnesotans.

The first testimonial highlights a survivor of domestic violence. The Minnesota House proposes a 17.5 percent cut to Office of Justice Programs that would result in drastic cuts to domestic violence services statewide and put the safety of families escaping domestic violence at risk, the coalition said.

The Invest in Minnesota Coalition unites Minnesota’s faith community, labor and nonprofit organizations around two core principles: (1) Revenue-raising must be a significant part of the solution to resolving the state’s budget deficit, and (2) the overall package of revenue-raising must make the tax system fairer.
