More than 150 workers, all members of unions affiliated with the Minneapolis Building and Construction Trades Council, were in attendance. Guests were also joined by national and local labor leaders who recognized the BIT for its commitment to job creation in the area and praised the workers for their skill and professionalism.

"We are incredibly grateful to the men and women who continue to work each day, in all kinds of weather, to build Flux Apartments," said Mike Stotz, president of the AFL-CIO Investment Trust Corporation, which provides marketing, investor relations, and labor relations services to the BIT. "It is to their credit that this project is on time and on budget."
The Flux Apartments is a $38 million development project and is expected to create approximately 200 union jobs over its construction cycle. "These jobs came at a time when they were desperately needed," said Dan McConnell, business manager for the Minneapolis Building and Construction Trades Council. "With the Minneapolis economy stagnant and unemployment still high, it\'s great to see our members getting back to work."
Working on the Flux Apartments is Daniel Berg, a journeyman wireman with IBEW 292, who had been out of work for almost two years prior to the Flux project.
"It feels great to be getting a paycheck and building a quality building," said Berg. Berg noted that he knew of other workers on the project, including sprinkler fitters, plumbers, and sheet metal workers, who have also been out of work for an extended time. "This job is big-time. It\'s put a lot of guys to work. You see a lot of guys on the job happy who weren\'t so happy six months ago."
