Labor makes push to claim Sviggum’s House seat

Steve Sviggum\’s appointment to head the Department of Labor and Industry creates a vacancy in Minnesota House District 28B. Voters will go to the polls to fill that vacancy via a special election Aug. 7.

Two candidates emerged from primary voting July 24, including the Southeast Minnesota Area Labor Council\’s endorsed candidate, DFLer Linda Pfeilsticker. She will oppose Steve Drazkowski, a Republican.

The Southeast Minnesota ALC worked hard to turn out overwhelming support for Pfeilsticker, a social studies teacher from Winona and a union member, during the primary, but the general election push continues. To volunteer, contact Liz McLoone, the ALC\’s political organizer, at lmcloone@mnaflcio.org.
