A number of organizations and coalitions are sponsoring a March for Immigrants Rights Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m.
Marchers will meet at the intersection of Lake St. and Chicago Ave. They will travel down Lake St. to Bloomington Ave., and finish at the American Indian Center at Franklin and Bloomington. The march is a total of 1.5 miles.
The goal of the march is to focus attention on the need for comprehensive immigration reform, including:
- A path to legalization
- Family reunification
- Workers' rights
- More civic participation; and
- Civil liberties
An educational forum will take place at the end of the march.
Sponsors of the event include AFFIRM, the Alliance for Fair Federal Immigration Reform of Minnesota.
