New MAPE president takes office

Jorgenson works for the Minnesota Department of Commerce, where he regulates the financial services industry. He works in the securities, insurance and time share areas. Jorgenson was elected in late November, narrowly defeating incumbent Joe Rolfer.

"It will be an exciting challenge," Jorgenson said. "MAPE represents professional employees from all walks of life and from all across the state. MAPE members help make this state a bit better place to live, work and play for everyone."

Jorgenson grew up in Austin and is a graduate of Austin High School and Riverland Community College in Austin. He has a bachelor\’s degree in political science from Macalester College and a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law, both in St. Paul. Jorgenson and his wife, Vanessa, live on a small farm north of Stillwater with their son, Ben.

MAPE represents nearly 12,000 professional employees who work for the State of Minnesota in all areas of state service.
