The Minnesota Newspaper Guild is collecting subscription cancellation pledges from St. Paul Pioneer Press readers willing to stop buying the paper if contract talks don?t yield a settlement soon.
The Guild won?t turn in cancellation forms until it becomes necessary, but wants to gather pledges from readers as another way of pressuring management to settle the contract quickly and fairly.
?We want to collect as many as we can so we?re ready to activate them if we need to,? said strike coordinator Bill Weyandt.
Readers can get pledge forms by calling the Guild at 612-789-0044, or by downloading them from the website www.shoptalknet.org/transfer
