Arriving to vote on the contract settlement, Local 26 members sign-in at the United Labor Centre in Minneapolis.

SEIU member-organizers who came from other cities to assist Local 26 acknowledged applause. SEIU locals in Houston, Chicago and Milwaukee sent member-organizers to the Twin Cities to aid Local 26.
SEIU Local 26 president Javier Morillo (right), introduced the bargaining team.
"This contract is a strong, strong step forward," said Morillo. "We won… It\’s all the people in this room. This town has never seen janitors stand up for their rights. In this way, we have changed Minnesota."
SEIU Local 26 member Amelia Lopez: "I\’m very proud of our new contract. We could not have won it if we did not have the support of the community behind us. We want to thank all our allies in the community."
Hoa Johnson, a 30-year member of Local 26, asks a question about the contract. In her 30 years\’ work as a Twin Cities janitor, she later said, she has seen ups and downs in her working conditions. "Now we\’re back up again," she said.
