More than 200 professional union plumbers will volunteer to make free plumbing repairs and provide safety inspections for over 250 low-income and disabled homeowners as volunteers with the Water's Off Project on Saturday, April 8.
Members of Minneapolis Plumbers Local 15, Rochester Plumbers Local 6 and St. Paul Plumbers Local 34, along with the Minnesota Mechanical Contractors Association and Metro Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors, are sponsoring the 2006 Water's Off Project. This is the sixth year of Water's Off in the metro area.
The Water's Off Project offers free plumbing inspections, repairs and water conservation tips to over 250 low-income and disabled homeowners in the metro area. Rochester- and Mankato-area union plumbers are also sponsoring Water's Off in their communities.
Minnesota union plumbers will volunteer more than 1,000 person hours of plumbing system services at a value of more than $140,000.
Low-income and disabled homeowners are qualified through local human service organizations including the Community Action of Ramsey/Washington counties, Minneapolis Community Action Agency and Community Action for Suburban Hennepin in the Twin Cities.
