Rybak went in to the convention carrying his first AFL-CIO endorsement, in contrast to his first two campaigns, when Labor came to the DFL convention backing incumbent Sharon Sayles Belton eight years ago and challenger Peter McLaughlin four years ago. Both of those conventions ended with no endorsement.
Rybak¹s name was placed in nomination by Senator-elect Al Franken.
