More than 350 members of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, District Lodge 165, Local 623, walked off the job Dec. 1 after rejecting a contract offer that threatened job security, the union said. A negotiation session on Friday failed to resolve the dispute.
The workers, who are not receiving any strike benefits, are picketing 24 hours a day outside the plant. Thursday’s picnic, sponsored by the East Central Labor Council and Central Minnesota Trades & Labor, will feature a pig roast, turkey and other food. Union members are encouraged to bring their families and friends.
