Union members and friends across the country are uniting to support California grocery workers by donating to a special holiday fund and urging a boycott of Safeway-owned stores.

More than 75,000 grocery workers will spend the holiday season on the picketline. The members of the United Food & Commercial Workers union have been on strike or locked out by their employers for more than two months. Key issues in the labor-management dispute are health care costs and job security.

The network also is urging people to boycott Safeway-owned stores anywhere in the United States. They include Vons, Safeway, Pavilions, Carrs, Dominick's, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Genuardi's.
