AFSCME Council 6 and MAPE, which together represent 27,000 state employees, will jointly announce the results of their members' votes on the state's final contract offer Monday.
A news conference is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Monday at AFSCME headquarters, 300 Hardman Ave. S., in South St. Paul. Joint AFSCME-MAPE events also are planned for 4 p.m. in Bemidji, Duluth, Mankato and Rochester, and at 4:30 p.m. in St. Cloud.
The unions said local union members will be on hand to discuss the results of the contract votes and to describe how the state?s insurance proposal could hurt them and their families.
The proposed contracts would freeze state employee wages for two years and raise health insurance costs by as much as seven week's pay for some workers, the unions said. The negotiating committees of both unions have recommended rejection of the contracts.
