‘Take Back Labor Day’ festival will offer worker viewpoint

The Service Employees International Union is hosting the event, featuring world-class musical acts including Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Billy Bragg, Steve Earle, Allison Moorer, Tom Morello and others.

Speakers will include SEIU President Andy Stern and Change to Win Chair Anna Burger.

In addition to the concert, the festival will include a YouTube station, a fully-equipped blogger lounge, a children\’s area, and a large audience-participation art project.

The "Take Back Labor Day" festival coincides with the first day of the Republican National Convention, which will be underway just across the Mississippi River at the Excel Energy Center. Event organizers say the "Take Back Labor Day" festival aims to combine world-class music, cutting-edge activism and family fun to put working Americans\’ concerns on the national agenda.
