Today AFSCME and the state reached a tentative contract agreement.
It includes:
§ No furloughs.
§ No wage cuts.
§ Step increases in year 2.
§ 100% employer-paid health insurance for singles.
§ 85% employer-paid health insurance for families.
§ No change in co-pays, deductibles and out-of-pockets.
§ No premium increase in 1st year.
§ 6.7% premium increase in 2nd year.
§ Increase is more than offset by a $125 contribution to benefit card.
Members will vote on the agreement June 15-19.
The contracts for 2010-11 cover 32,000 state employees, including 19,000 members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 5 and 13,000 members of the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees.
Current union contracts will expire June 30, 2009. The new contracts will not be ratified until union members vote on the tentative agreement.
