"The event was a great success, with 178 union members and DFLers gathered to hear the candidates debate economic and labor issues," reported Anna Brelje, CLUC political director.
"Nine union members from the district were nominated by their unions to address the candidates and ask a question on issues ranging from the Employee Free Choice Act to health care, trade, unemployment, and immigration," said Brelje. "All three candidates publicly signed an EFCA statement of support during the event."

"About 33,000 union members live in the Third District and we planned the forum to engage the candidates in a discussion about economic issues and to give union members and the public an opportunity to learn more about their positions," said Bill McCarthy, president of the Minneapolis Central Labor Union Council, AFL-CIO.
"We encourage everyone to attend their precinct caucus February 5," McCarthy added.
The Minnesota AFL-CIO, which makes endorsements for Congress, has not yet made an endorsement in the Third District race.
