Starting Gate Productions is offering two-for-one tickets for union members attending the Thursday, April 22, production of ?The Grapes of Wrath.?
The play, based on the John Steinbeck novel, tells the story of the Joad family, sharecroppers driven off their land during the Great Depression who seek a new start in California, only to find that thousands of others were doing the same. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22, through Saturday, April 24, at Loading Dock Theatre, 10th and Sibley Streets, St. Paul.

Tickets cost $18, but union members can get two for the price of one for Thursday?s performance, said Don Eitel, artistic director for Starting Gate Productions. Reservations are recommended by calling 651-645-3503.
?We feel that this is a very timely play because it?s about the power of Big Business and how that can be a problem,? Eitel said. ?It?s also about the need and the struggle for work.?
?Grapes of Wrath,? adapted by Frank Galati from the novel, won the 1990 Tony award for best play. Matt Sciple directs a cast of 14, with design by Joel Sass, director of the Mary Worth Theatre Company.
