The St. Paul Trades & Labor Assembly is seeking volunteers for its annual Labor Day picnic and Labor in the Pulpit program.
The Assembly will hold its annual Labor Day Extravaganza Sept. 6 on Harriet Island. The picnic will have music, speakers, food, drink, games, exhibits and energy. But it needs something else: volunteers.
All kinds of shifts and duties are available ? to sign up for something that suits you, call Lynne Larkin-Wright at 651-222-3787 ext. 16.
Also on Labor Day weekend, churches, synagogues, mosques and other houses of worship will open their services for union members to speak about how they and the labor movement work for social and workplace justice. To make it happen, the Twin Cities Religion and Labor Network needs: 1) speakers, 2) congregations.
If you are interested in speaking in your faith community or another community, or if you think your congregation is willing to host a speaker at a worship service on Labor Day weekend, call Lynne Larkin-Wright at 651-222-3787 ext. 16. Training for speakers will take place in August.
