The program will run from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, at Washburn High School, 201 West 49th St., Minneapolis.
“Recent events in Wisconsin, and in other states, have drawn our attention to the challenges of collective bargaining. Is collective bargaining achieving the results we seek? Come to our forum for discussion of this most important topic,” organizers said.
Two speakers, Peter Rachleff, professor of history at Macalester College, and John Remington, professor of human resources and labor studies at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, will present an overview of collective bargaining: what it is, how it has evolved, what is happening today, and what may have to change in the future. Moderated discussion will follow.
This free event is open to the public, accessible, free parking on-site and on two bus lines.
It is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters Minneapolis, a nonpartisan political organization, encouraging informed and active participation in government; and the Southwest Journal, a biweekly community newspaper for southwest Minneapolis.
