Last August CMAs (Certified Medical Assistant) (CMA), LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurse) and Audiology Assistants working at Stillwater Medical Group voted overwhelmingly to join SEIU. After eight months of stalled negotiation workers decided to hold an informational picket outside of the Stillwater Medical Group facility. Workers want to go back to back to bargaining to improve their working conditions and therefore the quality of life for the people they care for every day.
According to a statement from SEIU, “Over the eight months since the vote, management has shown little willingness to negotiate. While union members with hundreds of years of service to the community are pushing to raise standards and improve care, the employer has failed to address the safe-staffing issues raised, refused to give a wage proposal and won’t give an answer on critical benefits that are needed to recruit and retain the best staff for those needing care in the Stillwater community. The bargaining team has noted the turnover in staff, which hurts both workers and those needing care.”
Attempts to reach Stillwater Medical Group for comment were not successful.
