Three Minnesota projects were cited for National Craft Awards at the Bricklayers and Allied Crafts executive council meeting in St. Louis this summer.
The winning projects were selected from nearly 200 entries in nine craft categories.
The 2004 St. Paul Winter Carnival Ice Palace took top honors nationally for "Outstanding Public Service by a Local Union." Judges especially noted the amount of volunteer time donated to the project by members of Bricklayers Local 1 of Minnesota and North Dakota.
Local 1 also received winning awards in the "Marble" category for Rochester's Gonda Building, the new "gateway" building for the Mayo Clinic; and in the "Restoration/Rehabilitation/Maintenance" category for the Nativity of Our Lord Church in St. Paul.
