Building Trades plan Organizing Conference

A one-day organizing conference will be sponsored Tuesday, July 12, by the Minnesota Building Construction Organizing Task Force at the Kahler Hotel in Rochester. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The agenda includes:

? A discussion on prevailing wage, led by Pat Diamond, Deputy Hennepin County Attorney; ? An organized contractor panel, featuring contractors discussing why and how they became union;

? A session focused on successful techniques for building trades organizing campaigns, led by Mike Lucas, former organizer for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Pre-registration for the conference is $25. Registration is $30 at the door. Refreshments and lunch will be served.

The conference takes place one day prior to the Minnesota State Building and Construction Trades Convention.
