Early voting locations are open across Minnesota for people who cannot or do not wish to vote on Nov. 8. Under Minnesota law, you do not have to provide a reason for voting early.
You can vote early with an absentee ballot at your local elections office. If you are not registered, you can do so in person if you show proof of residence.
According to the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State, locations offering absentee ballots for federal, state or county elections must be open:
- Normal business hours on weekdays.
- The last Saturday before Election Day, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- The day before Election Day, Nov. 7, until 5 p.m.
- This does not apply to school districts holding standalone elections.
Some local jurisdictions may provide additional absentee voting days or hours beyond the above required days and times. Call your jurisdiction for more information.
The Nov. 8 elections will determine the next U.S. president, members of Congress, state legislators, judges and other public offices.
Complete details about voting early can be found on the Secretary of State’s website.
