The University of Minnesota Law School will host a “Summit for Civil Rights” Thursday and Friday, November 9-10.
Keynote speakers include former Vice President and U.S. Senator Walter Mondale and Fifth District Congressman Keith Ellison, as well as people from across the country, including several union leaders.
The union officials include the Reverend Terrence Melvin, president, International Coalition of Black Trade Unionists; Becky Pringle, vice president of the National Education Association; Fred Redmond, international vice president of the United Steelworkers Union; William E. Spriggs, chief economist, AFL-CIO; and Randi Weingarten, president, American Federation of Teachers.
In an invitation to the summit, Mondale said, “the Summit will explore the opportunities that changing demographics and changing attitudes offer for building new, multi-racial coalitions.”
The registration fee is $125 per individual, $100 each for three people from the same organization.
