The Carlton County Central Labor Body will hold the state's most extensive Labor Day celebration from Thursday, Aug. 29, through Monday, Sept. 2, at several venues.
It will be the 83rd annual celebration of the area's working people. Highlights include a carnival, fireworks and parade.
Here's a rundown of events:
Thursday, Aug. 29, to Monday, Sept. 2
Carnival, Veteran's Park, Cloquet -, noon to 11 p.m. Featuring the Rogers Brothers Funland. Unlimited rides with wristband. Wristband tickets $12 at the gate.
Saturday, Aug. 31
Horseshoe Tournament, Wright City Park - Registration begins at 9 a.m. with singles competition starting at 9:30 a.m. and doubles starting at 1 p.m. Trophies and prizes awarded for each event for the top four place finishers. Saturday Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 1
Men's Slowpitch Softball Tournament, Pinehurst Park in Cloquet - From 8 a.m. to ? each day. For more information, call Steve Martin, 218-879-3094.

Old Timers Banquet, Cloquet Labor Temple, upstairs hall - 11 a.m. Open to retired Carlton County residents who have lived in the county for 50 years or more. Entertainment by Jerry Haller.
Fireworks, Veterans Park, Cloquet - 9 p.m. In case of rain or fog, display will be held Monday, Sept. 2, at 9 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 2
Parade, Cloquet - 11 a.m. Parade route will be from 18th St. and Cloquet Ave. to 8th St. and Cloquet Ave. To register or for more information, call the Cloquet Fire Hall, 218-879-6514.
Picnic Lunch, Cloquet Labor Temple, upstairs hall. Immediately following the parade. Free and open to the public.
Labor Day buttons will be available for purchase at most events for $1.
