Forum on TPP this Wednesday

Learn more about the Trans Pacific Partnership – and how the TPP could affect you – at a forum Wednesday sponsored by the Minnesota Industrial Union Council.

The forum will start at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the CWA Local 7200 hall, 3521 E. Lake St., Minneapolis. Featured speakers will be Kaela Berg of the Minnesota Fair Trade Coalition and Karen Monahan of the Sierra Club.

The free trade agreement would set binding rules governing approximately 40 percent of the global economy. The United States formally entered into negotiations on the deal in February 2008 and announced a year ago that an agreement had been reached. Some in Congress are talking about trying to pass the TPP in the lame duck session between the November election and the inauguration of a new president and start of a new Congress.
