Several unions are banding together to host a fundraiser for striking Allina Health nurses on Friday, Sept. 16, in Minneapolis.
“Workers United for Nurses: A Strike Solidarity Fundraiser” will run from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the CWA Local 7200 hall, 3521 E. Lake St., Minneapolis.
“The nurses’ fight is our fight, and we want to show our support and solidarity!” organizers said.
“More than 4,000 Allina nurses, members of Minnesota Nurses Association, began an open-ended unfair labor practices strike on Labor Day. They are standing up and fighting back against a healthcare corporation that puts profits before patient and nurse safety and that is attempting to roll back the good healthcare plan that all workers deserve.”
Checks can be written out to “MNA Strike Fund.” Donations also can be made online at this link.
Sponsors of Friday’s fundraiser include AFSCME Local 3800 – U of MN Clerical Workers, SEIU Healthcare MN, AFSCME Council 5, Minnesota AFL-CIO, St. Paul Federation of Teachers, Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, Education Minnesota, AFSCME Locals 3937, 2822, 552, 3260, and 844, Teamsters Local 320, MAPE, People of Color Union Members and APWU Minneapolis.
