Union members and their families who are enrolled in 20 participating union health and welfare funds are invited to the 2014 “Health and Benefit Fair” planned Saturday, April 26. The event runs from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
The Fair’s goal is for each attendee to learn at least one new way to improve their health or wellbeing. To achieve this goal, the Fair provides fun and engaging activities for all ages.
The Health and Benefit Fair provides numerous on-site health assessments to help attendees identify health conditions they did not know about.
A special “Kidz Zone” will feature safety education, first aid training, and oral hygiene education. The Kidz Zone also will offer fun activities including: magicians, jugglers, face painters, balloon twisters, storytellers, coloring, and sports mascots.
“This will be the largest labor health and benefit fair in the country with 20 participating union health and welfare funds,” said Doug Rubbelke, executive director of the Labor/Management Health Care Coalition, of the Upper Midwest, which organizes the event. The participating funds provide health care for 250,000 lives, he noted.
The Fair will have 100 sponsors and exhibitors at this year’s event, which is presented free to union members and their families who are enrolled in the participating health funds.
