This individual will work with CtW-MN partner unions to aggressively grow membership and advocate for working people by integrating organizing and political strategies. CtW-MN partner unions include the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW), the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC), the Laborers International Union of America (LIUNA) and UNITE-HERE.
An applicant should possess:
· A demonstrated commitment to social justice and organized labor.
· Experience with successful union or community organizing campaigns.
· Background in political action and legislative strategy.
· Skills necessary to plan and present trainings for staff and union members.
· Ability to work closely with union leadership on collaborative issues.
· Experience in managing budgets and overseeing administrative issues.
· Exposure to fresh and innovative ideas for organizing and mobilizing.
· Self-direction and initiative to move a new program forward.
· Flexibility to travel overnight and work long and irregular hours.
· An accredited four year college degree or equivalent experience.
· Five years of experience in organizing, lobbying or political action or equivalent.
· Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
· Familiarity with the Internet and e-mail.
