Labor, business leaders to participate in homeland security forum

Representatives of organized labor and business, as well as economists and health experts, are scheduled to participate in a “homeland security” conference Nov. 27 hosted by Congressman Martin Sabo, D-Minn.

Titled “Homeland Security & Minnesota: In the Aftermath of Sept. 11,” the conference will run from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the Cowles Auditorium of the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, located at 301 19th Ave. S. on the University of Minnesota West Bank campus. It is free and open to the public.

Speakers will include Northwest Airlines President Doug Steenland, Carlson Companies CEO Marilyn Carlson Nelson and Minnesota AFL-CIO Administrative Assistant Bill Moore. Also speaking will be Federal Reserve Bank Senior Vice President Art Rolnick and state Epidemiologist Harry Hull, among many others. Panels will address the economic effects of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the outlook for public health and safety.
