Labor Education Service offers skills workshops

All classes will be held on the West Bank of the university’s Minneapolis campus. Two of the classes are held in conjunction with University credit courses.

Here is the schedule:

Collective Bargaining and Contract Administration
Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 27 to Dec. 10, from 8 to 9:35 a.m. Taught by John Remington. This course provides an introduction to collective bargaining, contract administration and the resolution of labor-management disputes. Fee is $150. For registration, contact John Remington , 612-624-7863.

Labor and Employment Law

Wednesdays, Oct. 28 to Dec. 9, from 5:45 to 9 p.m. Taught by John Remington. This course examines employment and labor relations law in terms of its potential impact on human resources administrators and union representatives. Fee is $150. For registration, contact John Remington, 612-624-7863.

Basic Steward Training
Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Taught by Tony DeAngelis. Designed for the new steward or member who wants to become a steward. Emphasis will be placed on steward roles, rights and duties; grievance investigation, writing, presentation and day-to-day problem-solving. Fee is $50. Trade Union Administration
Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Taught by Tony DeAngelis and John Remington. Provides union officers and representatives with the principles of management and administration appropriate to unions. Learn about various management styles, union structures and establishing effective committees. Fee is $75, including textbook. For registration, contact the LES office
